Did you know that, once you reach the age of 40, vision changes begin to occur? This is a natural process of life and cannot be avoided, but you can take control by ensuring you give your eyes the best possible care.
We can help you with this by incorporating an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) eye examination into your regular one, thus being able to check, with intricate detail, any abnormalities as soon as they may occur.
This advanced test utilises an instrument you will find in most hospital Ophthalmology departments. OCT allows us to see beneath the surface of the back of your eye (the retina). This helps us to detect abnormalities at an incredibly early stage. OCT has aided us to detect and diagnose all kinds of eye disease such as Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Retinal Detachments and a great deal more.
If you smoke, suffer from headaches or have a family history of glaucoma, diabetes or macular degeneration, we cannot recommend this extra precaution highly enough.
The OCT is painless and will typically only take up an extra 5-7 minutes of your time. It does incur a small extra cost but we do feel that peace of mind is priceless.
When you’ve had eye tests in the past, you may wonder why optometrists do what they do, and ask the questions they ask.
Let me explain just one –
Question: Which is clearer, RED or GREEN?
Well, red wavelengths are longer than green wavelengths, and myopic (short-sighted) eyes are a little longer (from front to back) than eyes requiring no prescription. If RED is seen more clearly more minus (concave) power is added, or if GREEN is seen more clearly more plus power is added, until red and green are seen equally clearly. To ensure that the lenses are not over-corrected, we allow red to predominate slightly in the final prescription.
I did some telephone research last week and phoned lots of our competitors asking about their fees for eye examinations, contact lens assessments, retinal imaging and other stuff. The calls confirmed that, of course, we’re not the cheapest but we’re the best.
We continue to offer superb value for money and, if you can find the same expertise, excellence and thoroughness in Central London for less, I’ll refund the difference.
Basic retinal cameras (as in the cut-price opticians) just DON’T compare with the Optomap technology that we use. We examine parts of the retina that other systems can’t reach – and in far greater detail. And everybody who has an eye exam at 2020 has an Optomap investigation as a normal part of our procedure at no extra cost.
Look forward to seeing you soon, and do ask about the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) examination.
A GOOD pair of shades keeps one looking hip no matter the season. It is even more functional at the moment to stave off the harmful ultra-violet (UVB) rays of the searing sun.
It is cool to match style with function in a pair of round sunglasses that is trending now. With retro sunglasses still in our hearts and back on the runways, celebrities have been spotted all over the streets sporting the ‘60s-inspired look.
Pay homage to music-and inherent style-icons like John Lennon and Ozzy Osbourne and rock a pair of circle spectacles in the hot scorching sun.
Very hip and classy, they come in different shapes and sizes to suit everyone’s taste and style.
Vintage round glasses are also a must-have to complete any old school look. Choose from clear lens Lennon glasses or tinted retro spectacles to big or small spectacles, or flip-up glasses.
Here, they look so fun and stylish on beautiful singers Beyonce and Rihanna, perfectly completing their casual looks.
So if you’re feeling a little retro and yearning for some of yesterday’s styling today, simply take a cue from sensational Bebee and Riri!
